Top 10 Awesome Christmas Poems For You This Festive Season

1. Welcome The Season by Afolabi Kayode

I can smell it in the atmosphere
It's in the air I breathe
The fog I see
I can feel it on my street
As they play different tunes with flute
Hard to stay mute
With all this cutie
Welcome the season like a bride
In excitement we should glide
Savour it's flavor while it last
Treat like it's your first
In it quench your thirst
Party to the top of your groove
Let your voice echo beyond the top of your roof
It's a day unlike any other day
Merry Christmas to you

2. Let Every Day Be Christmas by Norman W. Brooks

Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf. The good you do for others is good you do yourself.

3. Christmas Past by Carice Williams

Each Christmas I remember
The ones of long ago;
I see our mantelpiece adorned
With stockings in a row.

Each Christmas finds me dreaming
Of days that used to be,
When we hid presents here and there,
For all the family.

Each Christmas I remember
The fragrance in the air,
Of roasting turkey and mince pies
And cookies everywhere.

Each Christmas finds me longing
For Christmases now past,
And I am back in childhood
As long as memories last.

4. Sitting Under The Mistletoe

Sitting under the mistletoe
One last candle burning low,
All the sleepy dancers gone,
Just one candle burning on,
Shadows lurking everywhere:
Some one came, and kissed me there.

Tired I was; my head would go
Nodding under the mistletoe
No footsteps came, no voice, but only,
Just as I sat there, sleepy, lonely,
Stooped in the still and shadowy air
Lips unseen - and kissed me there.

5. 3 Day Of Xmas In My Villages by Charles Banasco

We slept that night not for the spirit
of boranya was boiling in our blood.
We planned of where to get the best
trees for Christmas.
As if by miracle the clock stood stand
still and the cock did not crow.
Impatience was eating us up till
another miracle occurred.
Morning was there with a unique
atmosphere which has an aroma of
all the goodies in this world.
We got best of the trees and planted
it in the middle of our compound.
Our hearts lit with joy when we saw
our tree glittering with the multi
colours balloons and flowers.
We slept that day with our hearts
outside the room watching our
investment.
Morning is here once again i shouted
to the amazement of all.
I hate going to farm but today is
special so we love it.
The farm has different scent today
and the large loads on our head felt
light.
We sang on our way home.
Night came and we sat around the
fire with loads of coco yam in it.
Grandpa came with stories of old
and i felt for people of his time
We gnashed our teeth when he spoke
of delicacies and closes our eyes
when horror.
The night was wonderful but still we
were thinking of tomorrow
Afe hyia pa the greetings just came
from every corner, horizontally and
vertically.
The day is finally here i said deep
within me.
I thought of the Christmas foul and
at long last we were going to get rice
to eat.
As if on a whistle all the fows began
to ran away
As if on a whistle all of us began to
chase them with anxiety.
I threw myself on the ground and it
was in my hand, this means i was
going to get the head.
Mothers were busy Fathers were busy
and mouths were even busier.
Special food, special bowl and special
everything.
Uncle Boakye niee i screamed and
the whole house run to hug him.
This day should never pass i prayed
silently.
I put on my shoe, my kiki, my watch,
my hat and collected my whistle.
Is all me, burger in town, pocketed
and stood still in the mirror shaking
my head.
House to house we visited and got
biscuits, foods and toffees.
The day has ended and i slept crying
and laughing wishing tomorrow is
another xmas.

6. Merry Christmas To The One I Love

Merry Christmas to the one I love,
Even on this day of love for all,
Remembering the love of one whose call
Redeemed all those whose hearts his love might move.
Yet only one love does my spirit prove,
Chosen in a passion like a squall,
Having in such ecstasy withal
Rejoiced in what we were created of.
In such love do we find our way outdoors,
So to be drawn to love of flesh and soul,
Traveling beyond our village green,
Moving towards the wash along our shores
As our love joins the greater love unseen,
Shining with dark passion on the whole.

7. The Stockings Are Hung

The stockings are hung,
the carols are being sung.
My heart is filled with joy,
along with every girl and boy.
It's really hard to go to sleep,
you want to go and take a peep.
And, when you're finally in bed,
visions of Santa dance in your head.

Your stockings are overflowing,
everyone's face is glowing.
You must open family presents first,
you're so excited you just might burst.
Then Santa's are the next to go,
you tear off the wrapping and the bow.
You rip them open one by one,
seeing toy after toy, each filled with fun.

Once your thank-yous have been said,
you are definitely ready for bed.
You tell everyone good-night,
and your heart becomes light.
And while in bed,
the day dances in your head.
You thank the Lord for today,
while you slowly drift away.

9. A Christmas Tree

One little star on the top of the tree,
Two little presents underneath for me,
Three silver ropes twisted around the tree,
Four colored lights shining prettily,
Five shining balls flowing silvery.
Oh, what a sight for use to see!

10. Christmas Eve by Christina Rossetti

CHRISTMAS hath darkness
Brighter than the blazing noon,
Christmas hath a chillness
Warmer than the heat of June,
Christmas hath a beauty
Lovelier than the world can show:
For Christmas bringeth Jesus,
Brought for us so low.
Earth, strike up your music,
Birds that sing and bells that ring;
Heaven hath answering music
For all Angels soon to sing:
Earth, put on your whitest
Bridal robe of spotless snow:
For Christmas bringeth Jesus,
Brought for us so low.
